Intentionally Designed Around Rest: Inside a Bedroom Built for Better Sleep

Sharing a bedroom does not necessarily mean sharing the same routine.

For Promise and Shawn, their new bedroom was an opportunity to create a space that could work around the way they each rest.

With different sleep schedules, a compact bedroom and Promise sometimes struggling to fall asleep, they designed their space more intentionally around rest, from reducing distractions to choosing a sleep setup that could adapt to both of them.

“We designed our bedroom with rest in mind. I sometimes struggle to fall asleep, so we focused on creating a dark, quiet and calming atmosphere at the end of the day,” shared Promise.

At the centre of it all is a Woosa sleep setup that gives them the flexibility to rest differently, together.

Making Room for Two Different Routines

Promise and Shawn each have their own way of winding down, with different routines and preferences shaping how they prepare for rest.

Rather than asking one person to adapt to the other, they chose a Woosa Split King Storage Adjustable Base that allows each side to move independently, giving both sleepers greater control over how they rest.

For Shawn, that means unwinding in Zero Gravity Mode, which elevates the upper and lower body to create a weightless sensation that helps alleviate pressure points, making it a comfortable position for resting and relaxing before sleep. Meanwhile, Promise can keep her side completely flat for undisturbed rest.

One shared bed, with the freedom for each person to rest their own way.

More Than Just a Place to Sleep

Their bed also needed to work harder within a compact bedroom.

“With our bedroom being compact, every piece of furniture serves more than one purpose. It's a big reason why we went with the Woosa Storage Adjustable Base,” explained Shawn.

The Woosa Storage Adjustable Base brings two functions together within the same footprint: personalised adjustable comfort above and generous concealed storage underneath.

With 20cm of storage depth, the space beneath their bed holds larger and less frequently used belongings, including their guitar, winter wear and sentimental items. This reduces the need for additional cabinets and helps keep their compact bedroom open and uncluttered.

Access is made simple with four Denmark-made SUSPA hydraulics. A pull of the latch smoothly lifts the base manually, while the wire-free hydraulic system keeps the internal storage area clear and unobstructed.

For Promise and Shawn, it means getting more out of the space their bed already occupies, without giving up the adjustability they wanted.

Comfort was considered just as intentionally.

Two single-sized Woosa Terra Plush Mattresses complete their Split King setup. With a lightly cushioned Plush Top over a firm, responsive core, the Terra Plush balances pressure-relieving comfort with the stable support and alignment they want throughout the night.

Woosa Pillows and a Woosa Silk Duvet add the final layers of comfort. Made with breathable, temperature-regulating materials that help dissipate heat and wick away moisture, they help keep the sleep environment cool and comfortable through Singapore’s warm and humid nights.

The Little Things That Shape Better Rest

That same intentional approach extends beyond their bed.

With Shawn waking earlier for work and Promise being a light sleeper, their bedroom separates the sleeping and getting-ready areas to minimise morning disturbance. At night, fewer distractions and warmer lighting help create a calmer environment for winding down.

“Sometimes it’s the little things that make a large impact on your sleep. Less visual stimulation, warmer lighting and fewer distractions. That’s what helps us sleep well,” shared Promise.

Individually, these choices may seem small. What matters is how they come together to create a bedroom that works around the people resting in it.

For Shawn, that has changed something as simple as how he feels about going to bed.

“I think the biggest change is that bedtime has become something I genuinely look forward to,” said Shawn.

At Woosa, we believe better rest is personal. There is no single setup, position or routine that works for everyone.

Promise and Shawn’s bedroom shows what that can look like when your sleep setup is designed around the way you rest, rather than asking you to work around it.
